How long it takes

The National Certificate in Brick and Block Laying Level 4 typically takes 4 years to complete.

How much it costs

The first year start-up fee for brick and block laying is $855, and each year after that there is an additional annual fee of $765. You'll receive a prompt-payment discount of $100 each year if you pay before your due date. Read more about fees and payment.

What you'll learn

You'll learn the skills required to be a qualified brick and block layer.

The compulsory part of this qualification covers:

  • health and safety
  • measurement and calculations
  • tools and equipment
  • installing concrete block components and reinforcing
  • installing bricks
  • scaffolding
  • weathertightness.

The elective part of this qualification covers:

  • structural brick walls
  • precast chimneys
  • laying concrete paving units.

The National Certificate in Brick and Block Laying Level 4 requires that you attend off-job training.
