Learner Assessment Appeals
If you believe you have been assessed incorrectly, inconsistently, or unfairly against the requirements of your BCITO programme, you can appeal an assessment decision.
Appeals Details
An assessment appeal may be about:
- the assessment process
- an assessment decision
- concerns that a requirement of an assessment was applied incorrectly or inconsistently.
If your concern relates to service, behaviour, conduct, or organisational decisions, it will be managed through BCITO's Learner Complaints process (above) rather than the assessment appeals process.
The process below outlines how to raise an assessment appeal. We encourage you to talk through your concerns first, as many issues can be resolved through a discussion.
Process
Step 1: Talk about your concerns
Before making a formal appeal, speak with your training advisor and ask them to explain the assessment decision.
You can also choose to discuss your concerns with:
· your employer
· your training advisor's Area Manager
Many concerns can be resolved at this stage without needing a formal appeal.
Step 2: Submit an appeal
If your concern cannot be resolved through discussion, you can lodge a formal appeal by completing the BCITO Learner Assessment Appeal Form.
The form will guide you through the information you need to provide, including details about the assessment and the reasons for your appeal. You should attach any information or evidence that supports your appeal.
Your appeal should be submitted within 30 days of the assessment decision.
