FlooringNew Zealand Certificate

Flooring Surface Preparation Level 4

This qualification is designed specifically for those working in flooring surface preparation, covering substrate evaluation, moisture control, and underlayment systems to professional commercial standards.

How long it takes

The New Zealand Certificate in Flooring Surface Preparation (Level 4) typically takes 12-24 months to complete for people new to the industry. There is no set time for any BCITO apprenticeship as we work with each apprentice to consider any experience they already have and the scope of work they are likely to cover.

How it's delivered

This programme is delivered through a managed apprenticeship model where you and your employer will both sign a Training Agreement. You will learn practical skills from your employer while your BCITO Training Advisor carries out assessments to make sure you're on track. You'll receive materials from BCITO and online access to myBCITO to support your learning onsite, plus attend offsite training covering substrate evaluation and preparation, moisture control systems, underlayment systems, and maintaining professional standards.
