The Window Association of New Zealand (WANZ) and Glass Association of New Zealand (GANZ) held their combined Industry Awards Gala at the Grand Millennium Auckland on 17 June.
It is with great pleasure that we announce the recipient of this award is Brendon Shepherd, Gateway Glass & Aluminium Ltd, Tokoroa.
Brendon has achieved three qualifications through BCITO in the last couple of years making him Gateway Glass & Aluminium’s most versatile employee. Employer, Shawn Evans, believes Brendon has a rare combination of skills that allows him to be technically, logically and practically competent.
BCITO Training Advisor, Scott Cato, says, “From the outset, I was aware of Brendon’s quiet understated confidence in his skills and knowledge. He conveyed to me an awareness that I was meeting a young man with high standards and personal values.” The future of the AAJ industry is surely in good hands with the likes of Brendon.
The Apprentice Award competition is a fantastic way for your apprentice to aspire to excellence in the workplace so please encourage your apprentices to start gathering a collection of good quality, high resolution photos of numerous projects they are involved in ready for the 2018 awards.
Comparing data readily available from IRD shows that the average qualified carpenter at age 28 is actually $120,448 better off than a law graduate. But money's not everything.
The number of Kiwis engaging in building and construction apprenticeships is at record highs, as the industry’s demand for skilled workers continues to surge.
