Graduation - Palmerston North 2025

Graduation ceremonies are special moments that mark significant milestones in our apprentices' journeys. At BCITO, we cherish these events not just as opportunities to publicly acknowledge the hard work and dedication that goes into achieving a qualification, but also as celebrations that bring together the entire support network that makes these successes possible.

Recognition Beyond the Workplace

Behind every successful apprentice stands a network of support that extends well beyond the immediate work environment. Partners, families, and friends play crucial roles in encouraging, motivating, and supporting our apprentices through the challenges of their training.

For our training advisors, graduation ceremonies often provide the first opportunity to meet these significant others who have been instrumental in the background. These are the people who have shared in the late nights of study, offered words of encouragement during difficult times, and celebrated the small victories along the way. Their contribution to our apprentices' success cannot be overstated, and graduation events allow us to acknowledge their vital role in this achievement.

Building a Lasting Legacy

One of the most rewarding aspects of working in the construction industry is the tangible legacy it creates. As we often remind our graduates, they possess the unique ability to drive down a street years from now and point out buildings and projects they helped create during their apprenticeship.

This age-old tradition of craftsmanship provides wonderful "bragging rights" that will stay with them throughout their lives. Imagine the pride of telling your children, partners, or friends, "I built that" as you pass by structures that have become part of the community landscape.

Making History with Major Infrastructure

Many of our recent graduates have been part of something truly monumental – the construction of the new bridge across the Manawatū river as part of the Te Ahu Turanga Highway project.

Soon, thousands of people will travel across this bridge daily. For our graduates who worked on this project, the phrase "I built that" takes on an even greater significance. Their craftsmanship and skills will support communities for generations to come, forming a vital link in our national infrastructure.

Every time these graduates pass over the bridge or hear news about the highway, they'll know they played a part in creating something that improves people's lives daily – a testament to the importance and impact of their chosen profession.

Looking Forward

As we celebrate these achievements, we're reminded that qualifications are just the beginning. The skills, experience, and pride in craftsmanship that our graduates take with them will continue to grow throughout their careers, leaving a lasting impression on our built environment and contributing to New Zealand's future.

Congratulations to all our graduates – your legacy is built to last.
