For many years, we've encouraged students to enter the industry as apprentices. Now, with BCITO Sports, we're helping aspiring athletes see our long-standing Gateway programme as a fantastic option for them.
Gateway provides structured workplace learning programmes for senior secondary school students, equipping them with skills needed for work in the trades while they develop in their sport.
Our BCITO Gateway aligns the needs of school-level athletes with a future in the trades. We achieve this by developing strong relationships with local schools, students, employers, and sports clubs; providing quality learning experiences that don't impinge on sports participation; introducing students to BCITO training programmes; and offering up-to-date information on training opportunities and career pathways.
Through Gateway, students can explore post-school options in the trades while still pursuing their passion for sports.
The trades have always been a strong career option for those with a background in sport. The industry works well for people who are physically fit, personally disciplined, focused and used to working in a team environment.
