Celebrating Architectural Aluminium Joinery

Daryan and Hayden shared in the celebrations at the Window & Glass Association of New Zealand and BCITO Awards held in Christchurch on 21 June 2024.

Daryan says, “Becoming the Apprentice of the Year holds the promise of opening doors to a future filled with endless possibilities. It's not just about accolades; it's about the recognition of my capabilities and potential. This achievement could propel me towards leadership roles, entrepreneurship, or further specialisation within the industry. Moreover, it serves as an inspiration for other women and Māori individuals to pursue careers in skilled trades, fostering diversity and inclusivity.”

Lynda Leavai, Daryan’s BCITO Training Advisor says “Daryan has been a dream apprentice. She has used myBCITO to her advantage allowing her to progress at a good speed through her apprenticeship and making visits very smooth running.”

Hayden started working at Envision Aluminium Ltd in mid-2022 and soon found his feet as the business guru learning to operate the brand-new CNC machine. His natural ability to analyse and methodically approach problem-solving impressed his leaders and colleagues alike.

In the weeks before the new machine arrived on site for installation and commissioning, Hayden went online to research and find out every single piece of technical information relating to its operation. When the commissioning team arrived, he got involved from the very start impressing the commissioning technicians with his knowledge on a machine he had yet to operate.

Hayden’s BCITO Training Advisor, Stuart Caulfield, says that working with Hayden is a total pleasure. “He’s enthusiastic about his training and we both enjoy our visits. He has an exceptional eye for detail which is a key attribute in this industry and is a tremendous asset to Envision Aluminium”.
