These prestigious awards not only recognise individual achievement but also highlight the importance of investing in quality training and development. By celebrating the best in the industry, we inspire future apprentices to aim high and ensure a strong, skilled workforce for years to come.

THE PROCESS:

Nomination forms are online this year and include the following sections –

  • Apprentice, employer and training advisor details
  • Why your apprentice – for Employers and Training Advisors
  • Why you – for Apprentices entering Apprentice of the Year Award
  • Supporting documentation
  • Declaration

Finalists will be required to participate in an online interview with the judges to determine the winners.

Winners announced

Winner travel and Accommodation booked

Stage 4: June

Winners are celebrated at Window & Glass Gala Awards Dinner on Friday 13 June 2025 in Auckland.


WRITTEN APPLICATIONS:

For nominations, some key areas you can highlight are examples of your apprentice’s

  • Role and skill sets
  • Leadership & teamwork
  • Technical expertise and product knowledge
  • Commitment to apprenticeship and training


APPRENTICE PROJECT SUBMISSION:

For Apprentice of the Year applications only, the project submission is the apprentice’s chance to showcase skills, experience, and achievements as an AAJ apprentice with a portfolio of work. It provides the judges with a clear picture of why you deserve to be the AAJ Apprentice of the Year.

What to Include

Work: Share details about a current project or multiple projects worked on.

Photos & Media: Include images, videos, or other media that highlight work and craftsmanship.


ELIGIBILITY:

  • Most Promising Award: Must be in a current BCITO Training Agreement and must have completed a year’s training since 1 April 2024.
  • Apprentice of the Year Award: Must have completed their apprenticeship after 1 April 2024.


HOW TO NOMINATE YOUR APPRENTICE:

  1. Either an Employer or Training Advisor can nominate their apprentice.
  2. Both Employer and Training Advisor must complete an online application form to complete the nomination.
  3. Apprentices must also summit a written application and project for Apprentice of the Year Award applications only.


ACTION:

If you have an eligible apprentice who you believe is deserving for either award, please complete the online nomination form by 5:00pm Wednesday 30 April 2025.
