2024 marks the beginning of a new cohort to the BCITO Apprentice Leader Group. We are actively seeking an apprentice in training to represent the Architectural Aluminium Joinery sector.
The highly successful Apprentice Leader programme has been running since 2022 and supports a group of learners in developing as individual leaders within their respective sectors. The Apprentice Leader is one of 16 apprentices (one from each of our trades) selected to share their voice, opinions, and insights on the training provided by BCITO.
“A leader is anyone who has the courage to find the potential in people and processes and develop that potential.”
Brenē Brown, Dare to Lead
Through the programme, successful participants have had the opportunity to attend a four-day customised Outward Bound programme focused on building leadership skills, personal development, and workplace skills. After the Outward Bound course, our leaders are invited to attend our National Advisory Group meetings which meet twice a year, to provide feedback on learning experiences and ideas for improvements and innovations. The Apprentice Leaders can generate real change to better influence what BCITO does for its learners and industry.
After the Apprentice Leader programme is completed, a complimentary invitation is extended to undertake the Construction Trades Supervision programme that has a strong focus on:
To make this a win-win opportunity, BCITO understands employers' commitment to releasing their apprentices to out-of-work programmes. Apprentice time will be compensated to the employer, plus all travel, extra training, and preparation/meeting time will be covered.
If you know of any leaders in the architectural aluminium joinery sector or can see an opportunity for someone to grow into this role, (or you think you are ‘the one”) please get in touch with your Training Advisor or Verina Jones, Industry Advocate Learner Voice at Verina.jones@bcito.org.nz
We’d love to hear from you soon.
